ADDRESS BY H.E. MUHAMMADU BUHARI, PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA ON THE #COVID19 PANDEMIC SUNDAY 29TH MARCH, 2020 1. Fellow Nigerians, 2. From the first signs that Coronavirus or COVID-19 was turning into an epidemic and was officially declared a world-wide emergency, the Federal Government started planning preventive, containment and curative measures in the event the disease hits Nigeria. 3. The whole instruments of government are now mobilized to confront what has now become both a health emergency and an economic crisis. 4. Nigeria, unfortunately, confirmed its first case on 27th February 2020. Since then, we have seen the number of confirmed cases rise slowly. 5. By the morning of March 29th, 2020, the total confirmed cases within Nigeria had risen to ninety-seven. 6. Kauna state: Governor El-Rufai tests positive for coronavirus

Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). The governor confirmed his test results in a recorded video released on Saturday evening on Kaduna state government social media accounts. The result came in this evening, and I regret to say that it is positive. According to the protocols for managing Covid-19, I am in self-isolation as required by the case management guidelines of the NCDC for someone that is not showing symptoms. I wish to appeal to the people of Kaduna State to continue to closely observe the preventive measures already announced. Davido Goes Into Self-Isolation As Fiancée, Chioma Tests Positive For COVID-19 Nigerian music star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido says he has gone into self-isolation. He explained that he took the decision after his fiancée, Chioma, tested positive to coronavirus (COVID-19). The music star announced this on Friday via his verified Twitter handle. In the series of tweets, he noted that he recently returned to Nigeria from America after cancelling his tour, while Chioma also came back from London recently with their baby. Davido stated that although they had no symptoms and were perfectly fine, they decided to take the COVID-19 test on Wednesday along with the close associates they had recent contact with as a result of their travel history. “Unfortunately, my fiancée’s result came back positive while all 31 others tested have come back negative, including our baby. “We are, however, doing perfectly fine and she is even still yet to show any symptoms whatsoe
